Spotify Premium Individual in India costs ₹139 per month — about $1.45 at our 29 Aug 2026 verification, roughly 89% below the $12.99 US price. That makes India one of the cheapest official Spotify markets on Earth, beaten only by Nigeria’s ₦1,600 (about $1.18) on our live board. Students pay ₹69, a Mini day pass costs just ₹7, and there is no cheaper mainstream way to get ad-free, offline music legally.
The full country-by-country table lives on the live Spotify price page for India; this guide explains what each plan includes, why the prices are so low, and how payment actually works.
Every Spotify India plan right now

Two things changed in the November 2025 revamp worth knowing. First, the Individual plan rose from ₹119 to ₹139. Second, Duo and Family closed to new subscribers — existing members keep their old rates, but if you are signing up fresh today, the table above is your entire menu. In USD terms, the Individual plan converts to $1.45 and even Platinum lands near $3.12.
Why Spotify is so cheap in India
Purchasing power. A $12.99 subscription is unremarkable on a Western salary and unrealistic for most Indian incomes, so Spotify prices to the local market instead of converting its US tag. India also has brutal competition — YouTube Music, JioSaavn, Gaana, Wynk — backed by telecom bundles that throw music in with data plans, and over a billion potential listeners most of whom met music on a phone. Winning scale at thin margins beats losing the market at fat ones.
The result: India pays about 11% of the US price for the identical service. That gap is the whole reason sites like ours exist, and we unpack the general mechanics in is Spotify cheaper in Turkey through the Turkey case — a market that was famously cheap until its 2026 price doubling showed how quickly these gaps can close.
The student angle in India
Students get the single best deal here: ₹69 a month, verified on Spotify India’s own premium page, versus ₹139 regular. Verification runs through SheerID using an Indian university or college enrolment, and the rate renews for up to four years as long as you keep re-verifying.
India’s student price is among the lowest absolute figures anywhere — under one US dollar monthly, where a UK student pays the equivalent of nearly ₹700. We compare every country’s rate in the Spotify student discount by country guide.
How do I actually pay from India?
Payment is the easy part inside India:
- UPI autopay — approve a recurring mandate once in GPay, PhonePe, or Paytm and Spotify bills itself monthly.
- Indian debit and credit cards — RuPay, Visa, Mastercard issued in India all work.
- Prepaid/top-up options appear for eligible accounts during promotions, like the ₹799 annual offer.
There is no ₹7 “trial” in the free-trial sense — the ₹7 is the real price of a one-day Mini pass, bought outright with nothing recurring attached. New subscribers to Standard do get promotional intro pricing (recently two months at the standard rate as part of bundled offers), but read the checkout screen rather than trusting third-party blogs, because the promo changes often. If a plan stops being worth it, cancellation takes two minutes — see how to cancel Spotify Premium.
The honest note: your price follows your account country
If your account was created in the US, Germany, or anywhere else, browsing from an Indian IP changes nothing — billing stays locked to the account’s home country, and since September 2025 Spotify requires a payment method issued there too. Getting the Indian price legitimately means creating an Indian account with an Indian payment method, which is only sensible if you actually live or bank in India.
The flip side: if you are in India, you already hold one of the best Spotify deals in the world. There is nothing to chase. For the full ranked picture, the Spotify price board by country shows exactly how ₹139 stacks up across all 40-plus markets we track.
